Life is too short to have bad coffee, It is even shorter to have a bad coffee substitute. Full-bodied, smooth, strong, chocolaty caramel – this drink is a treat and the perfect thing to get you going in the right direction first thing in the morning and throughout the day. If you usually start your day off with coffee or even black tea this is a great alternative. Or perhaps you want to boost your adrenal glands and cleanse your liver. Either way, this drink is a wonderful start to any day.

What makes it so special? It’s the ingredients, they are simple yet powerful and work at strengthening and healing the body. Dandy Blend (the coffee substitute) is made from Roasted Barley, Rye, Chicory Root, Dandelion Root, and Sugar Beetroot.

Dandy Blend package
Roasted Barley

A fantastic antioxidant, high in minerals and vitamins. Roasted barley aids in improving digestive health as well as balancing blood sugar and cholesterol levels in the body. Aids in the prevention of heart disease, insomnia and is an antibacterial.

Rye

Rye tea is an excellent source of manganese, phosphorus, and copper. Rye has numerous benefits including balancing blood pressure, increases metabolism and aids in digestion. It helps in the prevention of gallstones, diabetes, cancer, and asthma.

Chicory Root

Chicory root is a beautiful herb, with a light purple flower one would hardly figure that it also contains powerful health benefits. Chicory root works on the adrenal gland, it aids in reducing stress (by bringing down elevated cortisol and epinephrine levels), reduces systemic inflammation (beneficial for individuals with gut issues any various forms of arthritis) and is liver-protective.

Dandelion Root

This is the star of the mix. During the spring I like to make my own dandelion coffee from the freshly picked dandelion root – it does wonders on the kidney and liver – a gentle cleanse for the whole body.

Dandelion is high in vitamins a, B6, C, and K as well as calcium, iron, and magnesium. It is a super antioxidant aiding in the strengthening of bones, the production of insulin and the utilization of glucose – making it beneficial for diabetes.

Dandelion-like coffee – is a diuretic – aiding in the elimination and cleansing of toxins from the liver. Dandelion aids in strengthening the immune system, relieving heartburn and acid reflux, balancing blood sugar levels and improving digestive health.

Maca

Maca is a fantastic addition to the drink, not only does it boost up energy levels, it also aids in the balancing of hormones and builds up your sex drive. It also provides a wonderful caramel flavor to your drink, it’s not too strong but it is wonderfully pleasant. It also has the loveliest gentle sweetness, making the option of maple syrup totally up to you, especially if you would prefer something bitter.

Maple Syrup as a sweetener is fantastic. It is high in minerals adding a beneficial boost to this wonderful drink. It is a great deal better than cane sugar, as it does not spike one’s blood sugar too much.

Why switch to a coffee alternative?

Coffee, when it is of good quality is not bad, though if you are dependant on drinking a great deal of it throughout the day it does tax the liver quite a deal and plagues the digestive system.

This coffee alternative will not only aid the liver (cleaning and relieving any toxic load that affects it) it also gives a wonderful kick and boost to the body, giving you the energy you will need to take on the day. Maca has a positive effect on the adrenal glands, helping with stress management and overall hormonal balance.

Give this drink a try and start your morning off right!

Quick, creamy and delicious! Mixed half unsweetened vanilla almond milk and water and didn’t feel it needed the maple syrup. Will be making over & over!

    • So glad to hear it Kristen! I have a super sweet tooth, though I should try it without the maple syrup (thanks for the tip!). I hope you have a very energized and wonderful day! Sending lots of positive vibes!

    • Hey Jim,
Dandy Blend can be found in both Canada and the USA (you can also buy them from the companies website). You can also buy other coffee substitutes (such as Bambu and Inka – however, they do not include dandelion in their blends). Also, in case you are gluten-sensitive, I would read the ingredient list before hand as many also include Rye (dandy blend does not). Hope this helps!
